Cloud9 have advanced to the DreamHack Masters Spring lower bracket final after knocking out MIBR in a two-map series.
Johnny "JT" Theodosiou's side exacted revenge on the Brazilian team, who had eliminated Cloud9 from BLAST Premier Spring Americas Showdown earlier this month, knocking them out in fifth-sixth place to move on to face Liquid in the lower bracket final on Saturday at 17:50 .
With the veto coming down to the exact same pool, it was an improvement on Inferno that earned the North American team the edge this time. It started out with the two teams going back and forth, with Vito "kNgV-" Giuseppe shining for MIBR with 1v3 and 1v1 clutches and allowing the Brazilian side to gain a small advantage as the first half ramped up, but in the end it was Cloud9 who finished strong on the back of great output from Ricky "floppy" Kemery.

Up 9-6, the North American team quickly climbed to an even stronger position after a good start on the Terrorist side, spoiled only by Epitacio "TACO" de Melo denying Josh "oSee" Ohm a close 1v4 attempt. Staring down the barrel, kNgV- stepped up again with an ace as MIBR made their last stand, but before they could threaten a comeback Ian "motm" Hardy found a quad-kill in an A execute and Cloud9 closed the opening map 16-11.
A chaotic opening pistol round set the tone on Overpass as Cloud9's explosive Terrorist side gave them an early five-round lead, but their playstyle was a double-edged sword as a particularly erratic B execute saw the North American side give away an anti-halfbuy and a way for MIBR to start putting rounds on the board.
Despite the early losing streak, the Brazilians switched over to the offense at just a one-round deficit, but Cloud9 quickly sped away again on the back of another fruitful start in the second half, winning the second pistol round thanks to a timely flank from underground. Behind by seven rounds, MIBR faced tough odds again as they tried to come back, and Cloud9 didn't take long to end their misery at 16-10.
